How to prepare for the Physics exam

Soon a physics test or exam? Below are a few tips that can help you get a higher mark.

Long in advance!
NEVER wait until the last day. Start well in advance so that you can plan everything calmly and still
have time to ask things if you get stuck. At least a week in advance for a normal physics test.
Physics is a very important subject in entrance like JEE, GATE, and NEET.

Which substance?
Make sure you know exactly what the test will be about. Your teacher can tell you this in a normal
physics test. But you should have to understand the important topics for the test, otherwise, it will
cost you.

What does the test look like?
Try to collect as much information as possible about the test itself:
  • Do you also receive theoretical questions?
  • Do you have to be able to derive formulas or units?
  • Do you have to learn things by heart (formulas, constants)?
  • Do you have to make construction drawings?
  • How long does the test take?
The most useful is a practice test or you can practice from papers available online like sample papers of AIIMS.
This will give you the best idea of important topics for your test.

Theory
You should have had all the theory, but it may be that you have missed something or that you do not
yet understand something. Watch the video lessons on this subject, read in your physics book or ask
your teacher or a fellow student for an explanation. Make a summary or (even better!) Make a
summary yourself. Don't spend too much time on theory because there are more important things …

Practice exercises, practice exercises, practice exercises!
The most essential thing in the test is making assignments. This is what you will have to spend the
most preparation time on. First, make sure you have a collection of suitable practice exercises:
  • Exercises from your physics book.
  • Previous year JEE practice papers.
  • Exercises from tests from last year.
  • Extra material from your teacher.
Make sure you also have the answers or elaborations of the exercises!
(Keep the answers apart)

Schedule
Make a schedule for yourself for the days up to and including the test. Plan it so that you have
completed all the assignments the day before the test. Do not do very difficult tasks at the end,
because you no longer have time to ask for help if you get stuck.

To work!
Make every assignment in the same way:
  1. Empty your desk and only put on it what you will have with the test: Exercises, pen, BINAS, calculator, geo triangle.
  2. Make a statement entirely. If you can't figure it out: write something down. Pretend it's the real key!
  3. Check yourself with the answers/elaborations. Be very strict with yourself. Everything must be good, also units and completion. If you have made a mistake: try to understand how it should be done.
  4. Do away with the details and your work. Now, on a new empty sheet, complete the SAME assignment once again and make sure that you do it 100% well.
  5. Only when you have mastered an assignment properly do you proceed to the next assignment.
Evening for the test
Don't do too much on the last evening: Make a few more exercises, read your summary one more
time and leave it at that. Pack your bag tight for the next day (think of your calculator, BINAS, geo
triangle). Do something you like the rest of the evening and don't go to bed too late.

Good luck with your test ...
